Chemical Connections: WLW on film

As a queer woman and photographer, I've been capturing intimate moments shared between women and queer individuals for years. My camera has been a vessel through which I've preserved these connections, exclusively through the medium of film. I shoot sparingly, focusing on the essence of each moment and allowing the intimacy to speak for itself. I deeply respect those I photograph, ensuring that their privacy and dignity remain paramount throughout the process.

With this project, I offer glimpses into my personal journey, showcasing moments shared with past partners and within other queer spaces. These images serve not only as reflections of my own experiences but also as celebrations of the diverse expressions of love and intimacy within the LGBTQIA+ community.

White Outside, Red Within (2024)

Amidst challenges, creativity acts as my guiding light, navigating me through life's twists and turns. Moving from Paris to Calgary on my own last December presented its own set of difficulties.

As a queer woman grappling with loneliness, self-doubt, and heartache, I found solace in art.
In moments of quiet reflection, I turned to photography, crafting self-portraits to weave together fragments of my experiences.

Using the technique of double exposure, each photo reflects my resilience set against Calgary's sprawling cityscape or its majestic mountains.

"White Outside, Red Within" encapsulates this contrast - the serene, white exterior of snowy landscapes, juxtaposed with a raw, bruised self.

Peeling through the layers of these images, viewers uncover not just hardships but also the inner strength that propels us forward through adversity. Though the urge to give up is strong, an inner voice compels me to push forward, embracing change and resilience.

Through this photo series, I aim to shed light on the multifaceted nature of resilience, celebrating the highs and lows that shape our stories.
